Does the design identify an opportunity for improvement based on an iconic packaging design, and is the submission a resolution to this opportunity in a modern and progressive manner?

  • Is there a clear need?
  • Has the student identified the iconic nature of the design clearly?
  • Does the solution demonstrate clear progression?
  • Does the design utilise any innovative features or technologies?

Weighting:  40%

 

Manufacturing Process

Does the design show consideration for the production process required to manufacture the product?

Demonstrate in an illustrated format how the product can be made.

Are the selected materials suitable to the manufacturing process and the product?

Weighting:  25%

 

Values and Benefits to the Customer and Consumer

Does the design reinforce the brand positioning of the product and deliver an overall value and benefit to both the customer and the consumer?

  • Has the design demonstrated a clear understanding of market position?
  • Has the design demonstrated a clear understanding of the ritual of use?
  • Is the design fit for purpose?
  • Is the product fitted with suitable components e.g. Tamper Evidence or Child Resistance?
  • Does the product actively communicate the functional benefits to the consumer?
  • Does it perpetuate the iconic nature of the brand and its current package?

Weighting: 25%

 

Environmental Issues

Explain the benefit of the design in reducing environmental impact in accordance with the National Packaging Covenant.

Weighting: 10%
